A law passed by the Kansas legislature in the early 20th century:

“When two trains approach each other at a crossing, both shall come to a full stop and neither shall start up again until the other has gone.”

Finally! That dog has stopped… I can’t exactly call it “barking”. The dog is too small for that and the sounds aren’t barks yet.

Ah, well, see? It doesn’t take much to silence one.

You just have to let a dog be a dog.

#NowPlaying Josh Groban‘s Vincent

Starry, starry night
Paint your palette blue and grey
Look out on a summer’s day
With eyes that know the darkness in my soul
Shadows on the hills
Sketch the trees and daffodils
Catch the breeze and the winter chills
In colours on the snowy linen land

Now I understand
What you tried to say to me
And how you suffered for your sanity
And how you tried to set them free
They would not listen
They did not know how
Perhaps they’ll listen now

Starry, starry night
Flaming flowers that brightly blaze
Swirling clouds and violet haze
Reflect in Vincent’s eyes of china blue
Colours changing hue
Morning fields of amber grain
Weathered faces lined in pain
Are soothed beneath the artists’ loving hand

Now I understand
What you tried to say to me
And how you suffered for your sanity
And how you tried to set them free
They would not listen
They did not know how
Perhaps they’ll listen now

For they could not love you
But still your love was true
And when no hope was left inside
On that starry, starry night
You took your life as lovers often do
But I could have told you Vincent
This world was never meant for one as beautiful as you

Like the strangers that you’ve met
The ragged men in ragged clothes
The silver thorn of bloody rose
Lie crushed and broken on the virgin snow

Now I think I know
What you tried to say to me
And how you suffered for your sanity
And how you tried to set them free
They would not listen
They’re not listening still
Perhaps they never will

Now, that’s what I call a snack.

Best part about it was that I got to cook it myself. Now all we need is an oven and I can get to bake my own bread. Probably.

I just hope I haven’t lost my train of thought for that essay.

With the videoke at the neighbor’s, the kids playing jovially outside, the cars, trucks and everything else moving loudly at the highway… There’s no way I can take all this art history in.

Accidents can really happen in the weirdest of ways.

Now, this is a true story, all right? This just in from the news. So, don’t scoff at it.

See, according to the report, someone died after driving his ambulance into a tree while trying to avoid a dog.

Owing to the fact that… Well, this isn’t the time for fancy words. I overslept like three hours, felt starving when I woke up and now I’m only just beginning my studying when I should’ve started over three hours ago!

I so lost those three hours and there’s no getting them back.

It doesn’t help my case when I know that the lazy hours* are coming. I’ve only a few minutes left!

I’m practically useless when it comes to anything academic during midday. And that’s like 10 or 11 am to 4 even 5 pm.

I feel so buoyant, light, afloat.

And I don’t know why so it’s so weird. But it’s a good feeling so I’ll let it be.

Now, I’m a bit hungry so I’m gonna get me a doughnut.

I was only lazily drawing this animé character thinking I had nothing for tomorrow when I suddenly realized that I do have something for tomorrow!

Those APCO 10 codes!

It’s a good thing I remembered sooner. Otherwise, I’d be totally blank for tomorrow’s recitation. And that’s not a good thing in any way whatsoever.

And done… with one course.

I should’ve been done with that other course, too. Why was it that I haven’t finished all the requirements from that other course, again? I’ve forgotten already. Which means that it was probably so trivial a reason. Probably just the weather or something.

Anyway, I should finish with it already.

Honestly, I can’t understand this OS-thing.

Which always happens when I only have slides for learning materials.

I need better learning materials. I found one. But not until just this unit. Which really doesn’t give me time to read everything from unit 1.

So, I have to make do with what I’ve been able to read so far; the ones for unit 3.

Also, I’ve a lot of reviewing that needs doing.

Things to submit tomorrow:

  • Written assignment, discussion forum reply and learning journal assignment for Operating Systems 1
  • Written assignment, discussion forum reply and learning journal assignment for Art History

Things to prepare for tomorrow:

  • First graded quiz on Art History
  • Graded quiz on Questioned Document Examination
  • Graded recitation on Personal Identification

I say that’s quite a lot. Of course, I’ve made dents on those lists. But that doesn’t mean that I’m done. Nope, no siree. Nowhere near done actually.

The moot court is over. Thank the powers that be. Not that it turned out so well. The fact that the lead members of the defense group didn’t bode well for any of us. Sure it did make it even more certain that we were gonna win, but, for the sake of the whole class, their absence ruined a lot. (Of course, we were already gonna win. That was what have been agreed on based on how we plotted everything with their lead.)

For one, we didn’t have that much of a chance for it to go as smoothly as it should have from the very beginning. What with only a week to prepare. The absence of the lead members of the opposing team only made everything worse for the flow of the presentation.

Another thing is that, the rest of the opposing team, especially those who replaced the lead members, the defense lawyers, didn’t know the story so well. Neither did their suspect know the facts of the case. They ended up improvising. Which meant that I had to improvise, too. In the end, they dug their own graves, so to speak.

About our instructor…

Well, she was obviously expecting something better. But what can we do? What can I do? It was too late to tell the opposing team what they were supposed to do. The lead members, they did know. The rest, not exactly.

They were only supposed to answer the questions of the “lawyers”. They knew what they were supposed to answer. Probably. But the didn’t know the rest of everything.

Not that I can still do anything about it. It’s done. It’s over.

I think that our instructor was not able to gauge so well the capabilities of the rest of the class. (As always, I don’t mean to insult anyone. Besides, they already know what they are capable of and what they aren’t. It’s our instructor who didn’t know that.)

This is exactly why I love being with people smarter than me.

At times like this, I’d be the one learning from them, I’d be the one waiting on them while they work out the harder parts of a group effort, I’d be the one following instructions while they try to direct all of us.

I’d trade being the leader for being the follower in the blink of an eye.

This moot court is making me mental!

OK, that’s too strong. But still. And our instructor only gave us a week to prepare! It’s not as if…

If only… We’ll whatever I was about to say was gonna be insulting so, I just I’m not gonna say it. Even if it’s the truth. Well, sometimes the truth stings! Nevermind… Just, nevermind.

So, we have a classmate whose first name ends in “Bel”.

And some people call her “Bella”. Now, while that makes sense, it totally weirds me out. Only because I already knew two Bellas before I even knew about her – Bellatrix Lestrange, the more interesting one, and Isabella Marie Swan, the other one.

It doesn’t help that the full given name is also spelled so weird so pronouncing the whole thing also weirds me out. I end up calling here by her family name which is much more tame compared to her given name. Which is also a bit weird since I can already call her by first name!
